What is it?

  • Hybrid online 200-hour yoga teacher training + 50-hour in-person apprenticeship program
Get ready to deepen your practice! East Lansing Hot Yoga is excited to once again offer a unique hybrid Yoga Teacher Training (YTT). Since Spring 2024, experienced ELHY instructors Haley Perez, Mike Richter, and Matt Gleason, have coordinated a flexible online program complemented by invaluable in-studio mentorship, workshops, and hands-on teaching experience. There will be a minimum of 10 weeks of studio practices and classes, meeting 1-2 times each week. Interactions will include lessons, discussions, activities and opportunities to practice teaching. See the tentative schedule for details. The YTT class group will meet weekly Thursdays for the Kick Your Asana with Mike Richter and Sundays for the Slow Burn with Haley Perez. Each practice will then be followed by a one-hour YTT class. A few weeks after getting started, students will begin co-teaching the Sunday 1:30PM Slow Burn community class each week for experience. In addition to practices & classes, there will be an offsite YTT retreat in the Greater Lansing area midway through the program that will include special group activities and a meal.

You will independently study the eight limbs of yoga, the historical and cultural context of yoga, Vedic philosophy, Sanskrit, breathing techniques, meditation practices, mantra, mudra, and the energetic body using the online platform. YTT students may find additional times to meet for work, study, etc. as they work to complete the online program modules. Independent study will come to life as we work to connect that study to physical practice (asana) and breath (pranayama) in the studio through group practices, discussions, activities, and more.
